The OBJECTIVES of DevOps Methodology

The word "DevOps" derives from the fusion of Developer and Operation, and it identifies a methodology that sustains inherently the collaboration relationship that should exist between these two teams. The objective is to realise a unique, planned, leaner and faster workflow allowing to speed the software development up to reduce the Time to Market and to make the business more agile.

The basis of DevOps can be summarised with the acronym C.A.L.M.S.:

• Culture: it's a cultural change that aims to a better collaboration and to the elimination of the organisational silos. 
• Automation: one of the fundamental principles is the elimination of the manual processes in order to create automatisms and repeatable processes. 
• Lean: identification of waste in order to eliminate them and to produce maximising the available resources 
• Measurement: measuring the true metrics in order to make decision on the basis of data
• Sharing: sharing of data, tools and information that concern the entire development process
